Members present: Chairman Piper Brewer, City Treasurer Ron Tobey, and
members Joane Ford, Lance Ellenberg, Marti Lameti, Phil Heavilin, Bonnie
Snyder, Charles Wascher and Gary Wilson.
Chairman Brewer
called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.
Motion by Lameti to
approve and place on file minutes of April 19, 2005; supported by
Wascher and carried.
Motion by Heavilin
to accept the March 2005 Treasurer’s Report; supported by Snyder and
carried.
Tobey reported that
the tenants in the west apartment will be vacating soon, as they have a
home purchase in progress. Since the Commission had already discussed
carpet replacement in this apartment, Brewer showed samples from Bigger
Carpet. It was noted that an estimate for $1,758.12 had been received
and that the vinyl in the bath and kitchen would be replaced at no
additional charge if the carpet were purchased. Motion by Heavilin to
accept bid from Bigger Carpet, supported by Snyder and approved.
Committee members Brewer and Lameti will select carpet color to
coordinate with existing décor.
Discussion on 2008
Book was postponed due to the absence of Passow.
Snyder reported
that two agreements had been signed for the 2005 Home Tour. The Owosso
Musicale will hold a Tea Party for ticket holders at the Gould House on
that day. The Assembly of God Church will hold an organ recital and the
Congregational Church will plan a stone soup luncheon in conjunction
with our event. Motion by Lameti to sell tickets for $10.00, with no
early sales, supported by Ford and carried.
Ellenberg reported
on progress toward an auction of items from the Carriage House. An
auctioneer has looked at the items and determined that it would only
constitute a small sale and not warrant extensive advertising.
Commission members suggested that an architectural reseller might
purchase the whole lot of items, but that an appraisal of value should
be the first course of action. Also, carriages for sale on the internet
will be investigated to determine a value for the two carriages in
possession of the Commission.
Brewer reported
that Dingens met with Davenport Masonry at the Castle and that Davenport
caulked areas that may have been leaking and repainted the chimney in a
more appropriate color.
It was noted that
additional hours of operation for the Castle will be needed for the
Curwood Festival. Saturday hours of 9:30-6 and Sunday hours of 10-5
were suggested if docents can be scheduled to cover. Tobey was
requested to contact Kristy at the Festival Office when hours are
determined.
Ellenberg showed
Curwood items purchased on the internet, for display at the Castle.
June 7 at 6:30 was
set aside as a Home Tour Committee meeting at the Gould House.
Adjournment at 8:07
p.m., following motion by Ford supported by Lameti.
Respectfully
submitted,
Ronald J. Tobey, Secretary/ Treasurer
