The Owosso City Clerk’s Office is making voters aware of an error in the heading of the Parks & Recreation millage request on the August 6, 2024 ballot.  “Despite multiple rounds of proofreading, the heading contains an error, and no one caught it until now” said Owosso City Clerk Amy K. Kirkland.  The error involves the misplacement of a decimal, causing the heading to note a different millage rate than the ballot question itself.  Ms. Kirkland assures voters that the ballot question and the figures it contains are accurate.  The request is for .5 mill ($.50 per $1,000.00 of taxable value) and is expected to generate approximately $170,000 each year for two years.  She apologized to voters for the confusion and indicated that any City of Owosso voter that has already turned in their absentee ballot and wishes to change their vote can do so at the Clerk’s Office until 5:00 p.m. Friday, July 26, 2024.
