MDOT public meeting April 2 for upcoming M-71 (Washington Street) rebuilding in Owosso

DAVISON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) invites the public to an open house to discuss an upcoming project to rebuild M-71 (Washington Street) from Corunna Avenue to M-21 in Owosso. Attendees will be able to view project information and project staff will be on hand to answer questions.

Project information:
MDOT is investing $7.6 million to rebuild 0.4 miles of M-71 from Corunna Avenue to M-21. Work also includes water main, storm and sanitary sewer, and improvements and deck replacement of the M-71 bridge over the Shiawassee River. Work is anticipated to begin on April 11 with tree removal. Construction will begin April 15 and will be completed in October.

Based on economic modeling, this investment is expected to directly and indirectly support 73 jobs.
