The purpose of the Historical Commission is to recognize, preserve and bring public attention to the historical treasures of the city and to promote a historical interest in the arts. The commission is responsible for the permanent perpetuation of the history of the city.
Duties include:
- Receiving, cataloging, preserving and displaying articles of historic interest and significance.
- Maintaining, preserving, restoring, and managing buildings of historic interest and significance which are owned by the city.
- Encouraging the preservation and perpetuation of historic articles and architecture through programs and activities designed to promote community awareness.
- Enhancing historic areas with buildings and/or facilities to increase the enjoyment and use of the city’s cultural and historic facilities.
The City of Owosso Historical Commission is made up of seven area residents and a city council representative who are voting members.

Second Monday of each month, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.
